Physical Planner

Overall this week started off well but it ended horribly, read on to find out why.

Sunday (Oct 6th)

Today marked the end of my bladesmithing lesson (I finished my blacksmithing lesson yesterday and got a head start on bladesmithing). I completed my first blade, and for a first attempt, I think it turned out pretty well. I kept my plans light since the class ran from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and I wasn’t too stressed because I had already finished last week’s tasks and planned to complete this week’s homework on Tuesday between classes. Afterward, my mom and I walked to Buffalo Wild Wings near our hotel for some drinks and food—no need to drive (safety first!). Then we headed back to the hotel to get some sleep, as we needed to check out early and drive home since I had work the next day.

Monday (Oct 7th)

My mom and I woke up around 5:30 AM, if I remember correctly, packed up, and headed home shortly after. The freeway was already packed! My mom was really stressed out, which was stressing me out too, but I stayed calm so at least one of us could keep it together. We finally made it home, and I was able to relax and take a nap before heading to work at 10 AM. At work, I did my usual tasks, fixing computers and iPhones that came in. By 8 PM, I was finally done and could head home.

Tuesday (Oct 8th)

Today marked the beginning of a horror show. Everything was going smoothly until I got to my first class. I pulled out my laptop, ready to follow along with the lecture and take notes, only to realize my laptop was low on battery. No problem, I thought—I’ve got my charger... right? Wrong. I’d left it at home, and my laptop was sitting at around 25% battery with a whole day ahead of me. It was only 10:30 AM, and I wasn’t free until 7 PM with a homework break in between. I turned off my laptop to save power and tried to follow along as best as I could.

After class, I headed to the library as usual to work on my homework. I managed to get about half of it done before my laptop died around 3:30 PM, leaving me with two and a half hours before my next class. If I had my charger, I would have finished most of my work by then, but with no charger and no access to the files I needed, I was stuck. I grabbed some food and wasted time messing around on my phone—a mistake I would come to regret. Eventually, I went to my 6 PM class, which was enjoyable, and then headed home. Exhausted, I opted to relax instead of doing my homework (thanks to my need for instant gratification) and went to bed, promising myself I’d tackle it the next day.

Wednesday (Oct 9th)

Today added to the chaos when I was awakened by my mom asking me to take her to Urgent Care. She had been throwing up constantly, and there was blood in it. I took her to Urgent Care around 10 AM, thinking it wouldn't take long to figure out what was wrong and that we’d be out by noon or 1 PM since there weren't many people there. Boy, was I wrong (a common theme this week, it seems). I ended up staying there until around 4:30 PM, and my mom was admitted to the hospital. My dad came to pick her up so I could head home.

Once I got home, I spent some time doing a few chores, and then my brother and I hung out for a bit, playing the new Dragon Ball Z: Sparking Zero game, which was a lot of fun. However, I didn’t accomplish any of the things I had planned for the day. I convinced myself that it had been a stressful day and that I would get things done tomorrow instead.

Thursday (Oct 10th)

Today was a mess for me. When I got to school, I realized that one of the homework assignments I planned to work on after school was actually due at 1:30 PM! So, I decided to spend my time working on that instead of going to class. I gave it my all but only managed to get about half of it done—not making that mistake again! After submitting what I had, I planned to finish the rest of my homework assignments, except for one project due tomorrow, which I figured I’d work on later (bad habits die hard!).

I completed the rest of my homework, but by the time I finished, classes were already over. I went home, telling myself it was a good time to relax and that I would get everything done later. I did just that, but when nighttime rolled around and I started working on my project, I realized I needed to do a recording session and voice presentation. So, I decided to put that off until tomorrow.

Friday (Oct 11th)

Today, I went to work from around 10 AM to about 8 PM. When I got home, it was great to see that my mom was finally out of the hospital and back home. I spent some time with her before trying to get more homework done before bed. Unfortunately, that dreaded project slipped my mind, and I forgot to turn it in, which means I missed out on the secondary section of responding to my classmates' presentations. That’s going to be a big hit, and it really stings. However, if I buckle down and stay on top of my remaining work, I can still secure an A in the class! This thought motivates me, but not enough to get ahead of my classes. On top of all this, my planner isn’t working because I’m not using it. I really need to make a point to pull it out every day from now on.

Saturday (Oct 12th)

Today marked the start of Fall Break for school, which became my big excuse for the day. I worked my normal shift from 10 AM to 8 PM, and when I got home, I took the time to relax. Unfortunately, I went to bed without accomplishing anything I needed to do, which only lowered my motivation and discipline. I started to feel like it was okay to do nothing and not get ahead since it was Fall Break.
